A week ago I returned from a two week trip to Iceland.
It was my third time visiting this country and the second time I had used the company Wild Photography Holidays.
The trip consisted of the first week with the guides from Wild Photography and the second week a group of us had planned an additional trip more about this in a future post.
The first week had a group of ten travelling to the Snfellsnes Peninsula on the West of the island.
Traditionally, at the end of these trips, there’s a presentation of images from each of the group participants, consisting of some of the better images each person thinks they have captured on the trip.
In this post I’m going to present the images I included in this activity.
We had to produce three images, with an additional three images of the horses we photographed at Snfellsjkull for a panel to be made up consisting of one horse image by each member of the group.
Below are three further images, which were taken on the theme of ‘abstract’.
Paul, one of our guides, thought it would be nice to go out in to the harbour sited close by to the hotel (Grundarfjrur – we stayed in Hotel Framnes) we stayed in and take a number of abstract images.
This was, in theory, a good idea, the only snag was the weather on this particular day was absolutely atrocious.
It was the kind of wet, driving sleet you might associate with a winter day in the UK more than Iceland; windy, cold and very wet and slushy underfoot, with horizontal sleet blowing in to our faces and lenses!
Five of us went out, and five of us came back totally drenched and thoroughly glad to be back in the warm and dry interior of the hotel.

Great photos, Mark! I love the view of Búðakirkja with the symmetry between the church’s position on the right with the mountain peak on the left.
Thanks, Nick.
I think the church works really well, symmetrically speaking, with the mountain.
It was a very challenging subject for me to photograph, but I think I managed to get some very nice images of it in the end.
